It is alway nice to be engaged for a good cause. In addition to using our talents in art to raise charitable funds, we are heavily involved in community service and have a lot of volunteering opportunities. To learn more, go to our How to Volunteer page.
Bits4BARC
The current initiative was recently launched by Eric as part of his Eagle Scout project. Eric has been actively volunteerting in the community including BARC, the largest animal shelter in the Greater Houston areas. He found that when the COVID pandemic hit in 2020, many people stayed at home and thus adopted pets. Recently, people started going back to work and many of them had to give up their pets or return them to shelters. Such a sudden increase of pets has led to an urgent need of all sort of stuff such as pet food and supplies by shelters. Therefore, Eric decided to engage his community and collect donations of pet stuff to help these "furry friends".
As approved by Troop 414 and Boy Scout of America Bay Area Council, Eric reached out to a variety of scout groups and his neighborhoods for donations. He received tremendous support from the community and the project has become a huge success. In particular, by engaging several youth groups such as AYLUS Pearland and Art4Care, donations have been received from both west and east Pearland as well as Houston areas. The current rough estimate is that >1,000 pounds of pet food have been received, along with countless pet supplies and toys, well above the initial goal. The delivery to BARC has been set to Saturday, March 12, 2022. The following are just some pictures of the donation. More info will be provided upon completion of delivery, including a detailed inventory of donations.
